Clinical Overview
Drotaverine Hydrochloride (80mg) and Mefenamic Acid (250mg) Tablets is a fixed-dose antispasmodic and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) combination. Drotaverine is an isoquinoline derivative that selectively inhibits phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4), elevating intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) and causing rapid, powerful smooth muscle relaxation without anticholinergic side effects. Mefenamic acid inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1/COX-2), blocking pro-inflammatory and spasmogenic prostaglandin synthesis. Indicated for severe spasmodic dysmenorrhea, renal and ureteric colic, biliary colic, and acute spastic intestinal contractions.
