Clinical Overview
Itopride Hydrochloride Tablets (50mg) is a prokinetic gastroprokinetic agent on the PMBI formulary. It exerts a dual mechanism of action: competitive antagonism of dopamine D2 receptors and inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE), preventing acetylcholine degradation in the myenteric plexus. This enhances upper GI motility, improves gastric accommodation, and accelerates emptying without crossing into the brain or affecting cardiac HERG channels. Indicated for functional dyspepsia, postprandial fullness, early satiety, epigastric bloating, and heartburn.
