Clinical Overview

Naproxen (500mg delayed-release) and Esomeprazole (20mg gastro-resistant) Tablets combines a cardiovascular-safe NSAID with a potent proton pump inhibitor. Naproxen is associated with the lowest cardiovascular thrombotic risk among NSAIDs due to continuous 24-hour platelet COX-1 inhibition; esomeprazole elevates intragastric pH > 4, protecting gastric and duodenal mucosa from NSAID ulceration. Indicated for relief of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis in patients at risk of developing NSAID-associated gastric ulcers.

General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.

Possible Side Effects

Common: Dyspepsia, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, flatulence. Rare/Severe: Gastrointestinal bleeding, cardiovascular thrombotic events, acute interstitial nephritis, and hypomagnesemia.

*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.

Precautions & Warnings

Contraindicated in active peptic ulcer disease, CABG surgery, severe hepatic/renal impairment, and third-trimester pregnancy. Multi-layer tablet must be swallowed whole to preserve sequential release.
