Ketorolac Tromethamine Ophthalmic Solution (0.4% w/v) is a topical ocular NSAID on the WHO Model List framework. It inhibits ocular cyclooxygenase to block ocular prostaglandin synthesis, preventing intraoperative miosis and relieving postoperative ocular inflammation and photophobia following cataract surgery and refractive surgery.

Usage Guidelines

Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) four times daily starting 24 hours prior to cataract surgery and continuing for 2 weeks postoperatively. Remove contact lenses before instillation.

General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.

Possible Side Effects

Common: Transient stinging, burning upon instillation, ocular hyperemia. Rare/Severe: Corneal ulceration, keratitis, and corneal melt/perforation.

*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.

Precautions & Warnings

For ophthalmic use only. Prolonged topical use (>2 weeks) increases risk of corneal epithelial breakdown and corneal perforation. Discontinue immediately if corneal melt develops.
