Clinical Overview
Thiocolchicoside Capsules (4mg) is a semi-synthetic sulfurated glucoside derivative of colchicine functioning as a central muscle relaxant on the PMBI formulary. It acts as a selective competitive antagonist at GABA-A and glycine receptors in the central nervous system, relieving painful reflex muscle contractures, hypertonia, and myofascial spasms without inducing sedative impairment or muscular paresis. Indicated for adjuvant treatment of painful acute muscle contractures in acute spinal pathologies (acute lumbago, torticollis, sprains).
