Latanoprost and Timolol Maleate ophthalmic solution is a fixed-combination ocular hypotensive therapy. Latanoprost (0.005%), a prostaglandin F2-alpha analogue, increases uveoscleral outflow of aqueous humor, while timolol (0.5%), a non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker, reduces aqueous humor production in the ciliary processes. Combining these two complementary mechanisms achieves substantial, sustained intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction. Indicated for the reduction of elevated IOP in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to topical monotherapy.

Usage Guidelines
Instill one drop into the affected eye(s) once daily, preferably in the evening. Remove contact lenses prior to instillation and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. Apply gentle pressure to the tear duct (nasolacrimal occlusion) for 1-2 minutes after instillation to minimize systemic absorption. Store unopened bottles in a refrigerator (2-8°C); in-use bottles can be kept at room temperature for up to 6 weeks.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Eye irritation, stinging, conjunctival hyperemia, increased brown pigmentation of the iris (permanent), hypertrichosis/eyelash darkening and lengthening, blurred vision. Rare/Severe: Bradycardia, bronchospasm, heart block, macular edema in aphakic patients, and uveitis.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
Precautions & Warnings
Permanent iris color change (increased brown pigmentation) may occur; inform patients before initiation. Timolol component is systemically absorbed; contraindicated in bronchial asthma, severe COPD, sinus bradycardia, second- or third-degree AV block, and overt heart failure.
