Clinical Overview

Frusemide (40mg) and Potassium Chloride Controlled Release (600mg CR) Tablets combines a high-ceiling loop diuretic with a potassium replenishment core. Frusemide induces significant renal loss of potassium and chloride alongside sodium and water; the controlled-release potassium chloride wax-matrix core dissolves gradually along the small intestine, replenishing potassium losses and preventing diuretic-induced hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis, muscle weakness, and cardiac dysrhythmias. Indicated for fluid overload in heart failure, nephrotic syndrome, and hepatic edema.

Usage Guidelines

Take orally 1 tablet once daily in the morning with a meal and a full glass of water. Swallow whole; do NOT chew or crush the tablet to prevent mucosal potassium ulceration. Remain upright for at least 30 minutes.

General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.

Possible Side Effects

Common: Increased urination, nausea, epigastric discomfort, abdominal cramps. Rare/Severe: Gastrointestinal ulceration or stenosis from localized potassium chloride, severe hypokalemia or hyperkalemia, and dehydration.

*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.

Precautions & Warnings

Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, hyperkalemia, and esophageal or gastrointestinal strictures. Swallow whole with plenty of fluids to prevent tablet lodge in esophagus.
