Clinical Overview

Diclofenac Diethylamine / Sodium Formulations (1.16%-2% Gel, Spray, and 200mg Transdermal Patch with Methyl Salicylate, Menthol, Linseed/Sesame Oil, or Thiocolchicoside) is a targeted topical analgesic and anti-inflammatory formulation. Diclofenac penetrates through the stratum corneum directly into underlying joints, tendons, and muscles, inhibiting local COX-2 and prostaglandin production with minimal systemic plasma concentrations (<1-2% of oral levels). Methyl salicylate and menthol provide counterirritant distraction and cooling relief; linseed oil delivers alpha-linolenic acid to reduce local swelling. Indicated for localized joint pain in osteoarthritis (knees, hands), acute muscle strains, sprains, backache, and sports trauma.
