Clinical Overview
Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Tablets (120mg, 180mg) and Suspension (30mg/5ml) is a pure, non-sedating second-generation H1-receptor antagonist on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. It is the active carboxylic acid metabolite of terfenadine, but completely lacks terfenadine's cardiotoxicity (does NOT block cardiac HERG potassium channels or cause QT prolongation/Torsades de Pointes). Does not cross the blood-brain barrier. Indicated for relief of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis (120 mg once daily) and chronic idiopathic urticaria (180 mg once daily).

Usage Guidelines
Take orally once daily with water, with or without food. Do NOT take with fruit juices (grapefruit, orange, apple), which inhibit intestinal OATP1A2 uptake transporters and slash bioavailability by >35%. Do NOT take within 2 hours of aluminum- or magnesium-containing antacids.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, dyspepsia. Completely devoid of sedative drowsiness or anticholinergic effects.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
