Clinical Overview
Tamsulosin Hydrochloride (0.4mg) and Tolterodine Tartrate (2mg/4mg Extended Release) Capsules is a fixed-dose combination for men suffering from mixed storage and voiding lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). Tamsulosin relieves voiding symptoms (hesitancy, weak stream, straining) via alpha-1A adrenergic blockade, while tolterodine competitively antagonizes muscarinic M2/M3 receptors in the detrusor muscle, abolishing involuntary bladder spasms and relieving storage symptoms (frequency, urgency, nocturia). Indicated for men with BPH and co-existing Overactive Bladder (OAB).

General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Dry mouth, dizziness, abnormal ejaculation, constipation, dyspepsia, blurred vision, fatigue. Rare/Severe: Acute urinary retention (AUR), narrow-angle glaucoma attack, and QT interval prolongation.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
Precautions & Warnings
Monitor post-void residual (PVR) urine volume prior to starting therapy; contraindicated if baseline PVR exceeds 150-200 mL due to risk of precipitating acute urinary retention. Contraindicated in gastric retention, toxic megacolon, and uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma.
