Clinical Overview
Lactitol (10g) and Ispaghula Husk (3.5g) Granules is a dual-action osmotic and bulk-forming laxative combination. Lactitol is a non-absorbable disaccharide sugar alcohol that is fermented by colonic bacteria into short-chain fatty acids, exerting an osmotic gradient that retains water in the lumen. Ispaghula (psyllium) is a hydrophilic mucilloid that swells upon hydration to form an emollient gelatinous mass, naturally increasing fecal mass and stimulating peristalsis. Indicated for chronic idiopathic constipation, painful defecation in hemorrhoids and anal fissures, and irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C).
