Clinical Overview
Flupentixol and Melitracen is a classic psychoanaleptic fixed-dose combination. Flupentixol, a thioxanthene derivative, acts at low doses (0.5 mg) preferentially on presynaptic dopamine autoreceptors to increase dopaminergic tone and relieve apathy and anxiety, while melitracen, a bipolar tricyclic antidepressant, inhibits norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake. Together, they provide activating, anxiolytic, and mood-lifting action without causing marked sedation. Indicated for psychogenic depression, depressive neuroses, masked depression, and psychosomatic disorders accompanied by anxiety and apathy.
