Clobetasol Propionate (0.05% w/w) is an ultra-high potency (Class I) topical synthetic corticosteroid on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. It binds to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors, down-regulating inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-2, TNF-alpha) and inducing lipocortins to block phospholipase A2 and arachidonic acid cascade products. Indicated for short-term management of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, recalcitrant dermatoses, lichen planus, and severe discoid lupus erythematosus.

Usage Guidelines
Apply a thin layer sparingly to affected skin areas once or twice daily. Rub in gently. Maximum dose: 50 g per week. Treatment must not exceed 2 to 4 consecutive weeks.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Burning, stinging, localized pruritus, skin dryness. Rare/Severe: HPA axis suppression, cutaneous atrophy, striae rubrae, telangiectasia, steroid acne, and perioral dermatitis.
