Deflazacort

Deflazacort Tablets (6mg) is an oral synthetic oxazoline derivative of prednisolone on the PMBI formulary. It exerts powerful anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive actions with significantly lower bone mineral resorption, reduced osteoclastogenesis, and lower diabetogenic/weight gain liability compared to conventional prednisone or dexamethasone. Indicated for severe refractory bronchial asthma, allergic disorders, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Deflazacort (30mg) and Tamsulosin (0.4mg) Tablets is a specialized medical expulsive therapy (MET) combination. Tamsulosin blocks alpha-1D receptors located predominantly in the lower third of the ureter and ureterovesical junction (UVJ), inhibiting ureteral smooth muscle spasm and dilating the ureteral lumen. Deflazacort is an oxazoline glucocorticoid that exerts potent anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous action around the impacted stone site, reducing localized mucosal swelling and pain. Indicated for medical expulsive therapy of distal ureteral calculi (stones measuring 5 to 10 mm) to accelerate spontaneous stone passage and reduce surgical intervention.

Deflazacort Oral Suspension 6 mg per 5 ml is an oxazoline derivative of prednisolone with high glucocorticoid and minimal mineralocorticoid activity. In comparative clinical trials, it exhibits a more favorable metabolic and bone safety profile, causing significantly less calcium loss, bone demineralization, growth retardation, and carbohydrate intolerance than conventional prednisone or prednisolone. Indicated for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) in pediatric patients (age >=2 years), juvenile idiopathic arthritis, severe pediatric asthma, nephrotic syndrome, and chronic autoimmune disorders.
