Clinical Overview
Liquid Paraffin (3.75ml) and Milk of Magnesia (11.25ml per 15ml) Suspension is a dual-mechanism emollient and osmotic laxative. Liquid paraffin is a mineral oil that coats fecal matter and retards water absorption, softening the stool and facilitating effortless expulsion. Milk of Magnesia draws water into the intestinal lumen via osmotic pressure, stimulating peristalsis. Indicated for constipation, painful defecation associated with piles, anal fissures, hernia, and post-operative recovery where straining must be avoided.
