Calcitriol Capsules (0.25mcg; alone or in bone complexes with Calcium, Vitamin K2-7, Zinc) is the biologically active hormonal form of vitamin D3 (1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol) on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. Unlike cholecalciferol, it requires no metabolic activation by the liver or kidneys, directly activating intestinal calcium absorption and bone remodeling. Indicated for management of hypocalcemia and renal osteodystrophy in patients with chronic kidney disease, hypoparathyroidism, pseudohypoparathyroidism, and severe osteoporosis.

Usage Guidelines
Take orally 0.25 mcg once daily (or 0.25 mcg to 0.5 mcg twice daily) with water, with or without food. Ensure adequate daily calcium intake. Periodically monitor serum calcium levels.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Safe at therapeutic doses. Signs of hypercalcemia (overdose): Weakness, headache, nausea, constipation, dry mouth, polyuria. Rare/Severe: Nephrocalcinosis and ectopic calcification.

Precautions & Warnings
Requires regular monitoring of serum calcium, phosphorus, and creatinine (weekly during initiation, then monthly). Discontinue immediately if hypercalcemia develops. Do NOT combine with high-dose cholecalciferol supplements.
