Clindamycin is a lincosamide class bacteriostatic and bactericidal antibiotic. It binds reversibly to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganisms, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. Displays potent coverage against Gram-positive anaerobes, Bacteroides fragilis, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Indicated for serious skin and soft tissue infections, osteomyelitis, dental abscesses, pelvic inflammatory disease, and aspiration pneumonia.
