Clinical Overview
Atomoxetine Hydrochloride is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (NRI) without psychostimulant properties. It selectively blocks the presynaptic norepinephrine transporter (NET) in the prefrontal cortex, elevating both norepinephrine and dopamine locally without altering dopamine in the nucleus accumbens, conferring therapeutic ADHD benefits with zero abuse liability. Indicated for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents, and adults.

Usage Guidelines
Take orally once daily in the morning, or divided into two doses (morning and late afternoon), with or without meals. Swallow capsules whole with water; do not open capsules because atomoxetine is an ocular irritant. Do not discontinue abruptly.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Nausea, dry mouth, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, erectile dysfunction. Rare/Severe: Boxed warning: Increased risk of suicidal ideation in children and adolescents; severe liver injury/failure, severe cardiovascular events (sudden death in structural heart defects), and priapism.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
Precautions & Warnings
Black box warning for suicidality in children and adolescents. Discontinue immediately at the first sign of liver dysfunction (jaundice, pruritus, dark urine).
