Clinical Overview
Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride Tablets (10mg, 25mg), Drops (6mg/ml), and Syrup (10mg/5ml) is a first-generation piperazine H1-antihistamine with potent central sedative, anxiolytic, and antipruritic properties on the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. It blocks peripheral H1 receptors to suppress histamine-induced pruritus and urticaria, and suppresses subcortical CNS areas to alleviate acute anxiety. Indicated for symptomatic relief of severe pruritus associated with allergic conditions (chronic urticaria, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis), sedation prior to dental/surgical procedures, and management of generalized anxiety.
