Clinical Overview
Evening Primrose Oil Soft Gel Capsules (500mg, 1000mg) is an oral source of essential omega-6 fatty acids, specifically gamma-linolenic acid (GLA 9-10%) on the PMBI Formulary. GLA is metabolized into anti-inflammatory dihomo-gamma-linolenic acid (DGLA) and prostaglandin E1 (PGE1), suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines and reducing breast tissue hyperresponsiveness to cyclic hormone fluctuations. Indicated for cyclical mastalgia (breast pain), premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and atopic eczema.
