Clinical Overview
Valethamate Bromide Injection 8 mg/ml is a synthetic anticholinergic quaternary ammonium compound with combined antimuscarinic and direct musculotropic antispasmodic properties. It selectively blocks muscarinic receptors on the cervix and lowers cervical smooth muscle tone, facilitating rapid cervical softening, effacement, and dilatation without impairing physiological fundal myometrial contractions. Indicated for acceleration of cervical dilatation in the active phase of labor, management of cervical dystocia, and visceral spasms (spasmodic dysmenorrhea, biliary/renal colic).
