Silymarin

Metadoxine (500mg), Silymarin (140mg), and L-Ornithine L-Aspartate (150mg) Tablets is a hepatoprotective formulation. Silymarin (milk thistle flavonolignan) stabilizes hepatocyte plasma membranes, inhibits lipid peroxidation, and stimulates ribosomal RNA synthesis to accelerate liver regeneration. Metadoxine accelerates ethanol and acetaldehyde clearance, restoring cellular ATP and glutathione. LOLA enhances ammonia detoxification via the hepatic urea cycle. Indicated for alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD/NASH), acute and chronic hepatitis, and early liver cirrhosis.

Silymarin Tablets (140mg) is a purified extract of flavonolignans (primarily silybin) from milk thistle (Silybum marianum) on the PMBI formulary. It acts as a potent antioxidant, scavenges reactive oxygen species, prevents lipid peroxidation of cell membranes, stimulates nucleolar polymerase A to enhance ribosomal protein synthesis, and exerts antifibrotic effects by suppressing hepatic stellate cell activation. Indicated as supportive therapy in chronic inflammatory liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and toxin/alcohol-induced liver injury.
