🧴 Clinical Application
Adults: Take one 100 mg capsule orally three times daily before meals with water. Pediatric sachets: Empty the sachet into water, ORS solution, or baby food and mix thoroughly; dose is approximately 1.5 mg/kg three times daily. Continue until two normal stools are passed, not exceeding 7 days. ALWAYS give alongside Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS).
⚠️ Side Effects
Common: Headache, mild nausea, constipation (rare). Rare/Severe: Angioedema, erythema multiforme, toxicoderma, and severe cutaneous reactions.
🛡️ Safety Warnings
Antisecretory, NOT an antimotility agent. Does not replace fluid rehydration; ORS must always be co-administered. Contraindicated in blood-containing stools (dysentery), antibiotic-associated diarrhea, or infants <3 months.
