🧴 Clinical Application
Take orally once daily immediately before bedtime with water, with or without food. Bedtime dosing minimizes daytime dizziness and somnolence. Titrate slowly at minimum 1-to-2 week intervals.
⚠️ Side Effects
Common: Dizziness, somnolence, fatigue, irritability, ataxia, vertigo, weight gain, nausea. Rare/Severe: Boxed warning: Serious psychiatric and behavioral reactions (severe aggression, hostility, anger, homicidal thoughts and threats), falls, and severe hypersensitivity.
🛡️ Safety Warnings
Black box warning: Serious neuropsychiatric events including hostility, severe aggression, and homicidal ideation; monitor patients and instruct families to report sudden personality or behavioral changes immediately. Dose-dependent risk of dizziness and severe falls.
