🧴 Clinical Application

Take orally 5 to 10 mg once daily for 5 to 10 consecutive days (e.g. from Day 16 to Day 25 of the cycle for DUB / amenorrhea) with water. Withdrawal bleeding typically occurs within 3 to 7 days after discontinuing therapy. For estrogen-opposed HRT: 5 to 10 mg daily for 12 to 14 consecutive days each month.

⚠️ Side Effects

Common: Breakthrough bleeding, spotting, change in menstrual flow, weight changes, breast tenderness, peripheral edema, nausea, somnolence, and insomnia. Rare/Severe: Thromboembolic events (thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism), loss of bone mineral density with long-term use, depression, and cholestatic jaundice.

Black Box Warning: Cardiovascular disorders, breast cancer, dementia risks when combined with estrogen, and bone loss. Contraindicated in pregnancy, active venous thromboembolism, cerebrovascular disease, severe liver dysfunction, and known or suspected breast/genital malignancies.
