🧴 Clinical Application
Take orally with water, usually in divided doses or as a single bedtime dose. Take with food if stomach upset occurs. Taper gradually before stopping.
⚠️ Side Effects
Common: Dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, blurred vision, orthostatic dizziness, weight gain. Rare/Severe: Cardiac arrhythmias, seizures, agranulocytosis, paralytic ileus, and suicidality.
🛡️ Safety Warnings
Boxed warning for suicidality. Contraindicated in acute post-MI and with MAOIs. Exercise extreme caution in cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, and benign prostatic hypertrophy.
