Clinical Overview

Vein Compression Stockings (Class 1, Class 2, Anti-Embolism) is a therapeutic graduated compression hosiery on the PMBI Formulary. Engineered with graduated compression that exerts highest pressure at the ankle (100%), decreasing progressively up the calf (70%) and thigh (40%), augmenting the calf muscle pump and accelerating deep venous return to prevent venous stasis. Indicated for varicose veins, chronic venous insufficiency, post-thrombotic syndrome, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis in bedridden patients, and lower limb venous edema.

Medical Device / Consumable: This product is an official PMBI surgical consumable, diagnostic, or medical device. It does not contain chemical active pharmaceutical substances.

Usage Guidelines

Put on in the morning immediately upon waking before getting out of bed (when leg swelling is minimal). Turn stocking inside out up to heel, slip foot into foot portion, seat heel correctly, and gently unroll stocking up the leg smoothly. Smooth out all wrinkles. Hand wash in cold water; do not wring or dry in direct sunlight.

General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.

Possible Side Effects

Common: Difficulty putting on, localized warmth, minor itching. Rare: Skin necrosis or arterial compromise if used in peripheral artery disease.

*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.

Precautions & Warnings

Strictly contraindicated in severe peripheral arterial disease (ankle-brachial index ABI < 0.6), severe peripheral neuropathy, and acute dermatitis. Measure calf and ankle circumferences accurately for proper fit.
