Usage Guidelines
For clinical use by trained nursing and medical professionals under strict aseptic technique. Perform thorough periurethral disinfection. Apply sterile water-soluble lubricating anesthetic gel (lignocaine jelly) generously into the urethra. Advance catheter until urine flows, then advance an additional 2-3 cm into bladder. Inflate the balloon with the exact specified volume of sterile water (NEVER use saline or air, which can crystallize or float). Gently pull catheter until balloon seats against bladder neck. Connect to sterile closed drainage bag.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Dysuria, bladder spasms, urethral discomfort. Rare/Severe: Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI), urethral trauma/false passage (if balloon inflated inside urethra), hematuria, and urethral stricture.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
Precautions & Warnings
Single-use sterile catheter; NEVER reuse. Inflate balloon ONLY after confirming free urine return (ensures catheter is inside bladder cavity). Maintain closed drainage system and keep urine bag below bladder level at all times to prevent reflux and CAUTI.
