Clinical Overview
Omega-3 Fatty Acids (EPA 180mg, DHA 120mg / 500mg Softgel Capsules; with or without Lutein, Zeaxanthin, Astaxanthin) is an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid and macular antioxidant formulation on the PMBI Formulary. EPA and DHA integrate into cell membranes, suppressing hepatic triglyceride synthesis, reducing blood viscosity, and generating anti-inflammatory resolvins and protectins. DHA is a structural component of the cerebral cortex and retina; lutein and zeaxanthin filter blue light in the macula lutea. Indicated for hypertriglyceridemia, cardiovascular protection, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and dry eye syndrome.
