Clinical Overview
Torasemide and Spironolactone is a balanced dual-action diuretic formulation. Torasemide is a high-potency pyridine-sulfonylurea loop diuretic that inhibits the Na+/K+/2Cl- cotransporter in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle, while spironolactone is a competitive aldosterone receptor antagonist in the distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct. Spironolactone prevents loop diuretic-induced potassium wasting and secondary hyperaldosteronism, reducing cardiac fibrosis while promoting sustained natriuresis. Indicated for resistant edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis with ascites, and nephrotic syndrome.

Usage Guidelines
Take orally once daily in the morning with a glass of water, with or without food. Taking in the morning prevents nocturia. Regularly monitor blood pressure, body weight, and serum electrolytes.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Dizziness, headache, polyuria, gynecomastia (breast enlargement/tenderness in men due to spironolactone), menstrual irregularities, mild nausea. Rare/Severe: Severe hyperkalemia (cardiac arrhythmias), acute renal failure, dehydration, and hyponatremia.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
Precautions & Warnings
High risk of severe hyperkalemia; routine monitoring of serum potassium, sodium, and creatinine is mandatory. Contraindicated in anuria, acute renal failure, and hyperkalemia. Avoid potassium supplements and salt substitutes.
