Clinical Overview
Ampicillin and Cloxacillin combination (often termed Ampiclox) provides dual bactericidal action against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens, including penicillinase-producing Staphylococci. Ampicillin targets sensitive streptococci, enterococci, and Gram-negative bacilli, while cloxacillin resists destruction by staphylococcal beta-lactamases. Indicated for respiratory tract infections, puerperal sepsis, wound infections, and post-surgical prophylaxis.

Usage Guidelines
Take orally on an empty stomach, at least 30 to 60 minutes before meals or 2 hours after meals, with a full glass of water. Strict adherence to meal spacing is necessary because food hampers absorption. Complete the entire course.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Nausea, heartburn, diarrhea, loose stools, and mild rash. Rare/Severe: Severe anaphylaxis, angioneurotic edema, pseudomembranous colitis, and cholestatic hepatitis.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
Precautions & Warnings
Contraindicated in penicillin-allergic patients. Discontinue immediately if cutaneous rash or facial swelling appears. Adjust dosage in renal failure.
