Clinical Overview
Amoxycillin and Potassium Clavulanate is a synergistic broad-spectrum antibacterial combination. Amoxycillin, an extended-spectrum aminopenicillin, inhibits bacterial cell wall peptidoglycan synthesis, while clavulanic acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, competitively binds and inactivates beta-lactamase enzymes produced by resistant bacteria, thereby safeguarding amoxycillin from enzymatic degradation. Indicated for acute otitis media, bacterial sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, skin and skin structure infections, recurrent urinary tract infections, and post-operative dental and surgical infections.

Usage Guidelines
For paediatric use. Reconstitute dry syrup with boiled, cooled water up to the graduation mark. Shake vigorously before each use. Administer at the start of a meal or with a light snack to maximize clavulanate absorption and minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Store in a refrigerator (2-8°C) and discard after 7 days.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Diarrhea, loose stools, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, and cutaneous rashes. Rare/Severe: Severe anaphylaxis/angioedema, cholestatic jaundice/acute hepatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and Clostridioides difficile colitis.
*Note: Individual physiological responses vary. While many patients experience few or no side effects, notify your treating physician if adverse reactions persist or if hypersensitivity (angioedema, skin rash, dyspnea) occurs.
Precautions & Warnings
Absolute contraindication in patients with a history of severe penicillin or beta-lactam hypersensitivity, or amoxycillin/clavulanate-associated cholestatic jaundice or hepatic impairment. Discontinue immediately if rash or allergic wheezing develops. Adjust dosage in patients with significant renal impairment.
