Sertaconazole Nitrate (2% w/w cream or dusting powder) is a third-generation broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal containing a benzothiophene ring. It features a unique dual mechanism: fungistatic action (inhibition of ergosterol synthesis) combined with direct fungicidal action (benzothiophene intercalation into fungal cell membranes, forming pores and causing lethal leakage of intracellular adenosine triphosphate). Indicated for tinea pedis (interdigital athlete's foot), tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and cutaneous candidiasis.

Usage Guidelines
Apply cream or dusting powder twice daily (morning and evening) to clean, dry affected skin and surrounding margins for 4 weeks. Dusting powder is particularly suited for intertriginous folds, groin, and footwear to reduce moisture. Wash hands after applying.
General Administration Advice: Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage, frequency, and treatment course. For oral medications, swallow with sufficient water. Never stop antibiotics, psychiatric medications, or antihypertensives abruptly without clinical direction.
Possible Side Effects
Common: Contact dermatitis, localized dry skin, burning sensation, erythema, pruritus. Rare/Severe: Hyperesthesia and skin blistering.
