🧴 Clinical Application
CRITICAL ADMINISTRATION DIRECTIVE: Take orally ONCE WEEKLY on the same day each week with water, with or without food. Daily dosing for rheumatoid arthritis or psoriasis is a LETHAL medical error. Daily folic acid supplementation (1 to 5 mg daily except on the methotrexate dosing day) is recommended to reduce mucosal and gastrointestinal toxicity.
⚠️ Side Effects
Common: Nausea, fatigue, mouth ulcers (stomatitis), headache, mild transaminase rise, alopecia. Rare/Severe: Fatal bone marrow failure (from inadvertent daily dosing), acute interstitial pneumonitis (dry cough, dyspnea), liver fibrosis, and severe cutaneous adverse reactions.
