Tannic acid precipitates surface proteins on inflamed mucous membranes, forming a protective barrier that reduces bleeding, tightens lax spongy gums, and decreases exudation. Iodine and thymol exert antiseptic action against oral pathogens, while menthol provides soothing cooling pain relief. Indicated for bleeding gums, gingivitis, spongy gums, periodontitis, and painful aphthous lesions.
